Happy Birthday to the Trust!
The Children’s Hospital Trust, was 'born' as the Fundraising Arm of the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in 1994.
For 17 years we have played an integral role in improving the quality of care provided at the Hospital, through upgrading, building & equipping the wards as well as skills development programmes.
Emeritus Professor David Beatty, founder of the Children’s Hospital Trust and still actively involved as a Trustee says:
"The Hospital was threatened with closure due to budgetary constraints in the early 1990’s and the Trust was formed to ensure the Hospital would continue to serve the children of Africa.
Our thanks to every member of the community and the public at large who believed in the Hospital and have unselfishly helped all those children who have needed the expertise and care that the Hospital provides.”
Some of the Trust’s recent successes:
* state-of-the-art Operating Theatre Complex
* several ward upgrades
* Family Resource Centre
* fully-equipped Lecture Theatre with digitatlised state-of-the-art facilities
