Linda Givon wins a Merit Award at the Inyathelo Philanthropy Awards
The Children’s Hospital Trust recently nominated Ms Linda Givon, ex-Goodman Gallery, to participate in the second Inyathelo Philanthropy Awards on 5 November. The awards publicly recognise and acknowledge individual philanthropists who personally play a vital role in the ongoing sustainable social development. Linda Givon has for many years been widely regarded as one of the most important gallery owner in South Africa.
So much more than a leading business woman, this extraordinary individual’s influence and passion has changed the face of the South African art world through her lifelong obsession for fairness, equality and opportunity for local artists. Linda has, and always will, inspire others to greatness. As a result of her generosity she is firmly placed in the hearts of the South African and international art community.
Her involvement with the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital was born when her daughter trained at this facility but her love was ignited further when during a visit to the Burns Unit after her involvement in the Art Benefit event, a small traumatised patient sat on her lap. With her arms around this vulnerable young child Linda resolved to make a difference to the lives of the many sick children treated annually at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
Our congratulations and deep gratitude go to Linda for her contribution to philanthropy in South Africa and in particular the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
