ROB AND ROXY LOUW VISIT CANCER WARD
In September 2009 Rob Louw, popular rugby personality, was diagnosed with an aggressively malevolent skin cancer (metastatic melanoma) and given three months to live. Rob’s cancer diagnosis was a shock as he appeared healthy and was living an active life. He was fortunate to receive treatment in the world’s best cancer hospital in Houston in America. Rob returned from receiving treatment in Houston shortly after Christmas 2009 and, against all odds, he is now in remission.
Rob is now committed to repaying his gratitude for the world-wide support he received by doing motivational speaking, how to avoid skin cancer and offers encouragement to other cancer sufferers to keep fighting.
Rob and Roxy, his eldest daughter Roxy and well-known surfer and model, enjoyed spending time with the sick children and dedicated medical staff.
This stand-alone Oncology unit at the Hospital was opened in 2006. Funds from the National Lottery Trust Fund were secured by the Children’s Hospital Trust.
