Top South African Artist Leaves His Mark on the Hospital

Internationally acclaimed artist Paul du Toit recently left his mark on the Hospital when the Trust commissioned him to complete a beautiful, child friendly mural in the out-patient wing of the Hospital to stand testimony to the Ackerman family’s generous and ongoing commitment to child health care at the Hospital.
Paul du Toit has been involved at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital since 2003 when he first collaborated on an artwork with some of our little patients. This work was entitled “Fish in boots” and was sold at the first annual Art Auction, hosted by Patron Amanda Bloch, to raise funds for a new Trauma Unit at the Hospital.
Having contracted juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 11 and spending 3 years in and out of hospitals and wheelchairs, Paul understands the profound impact that illness has on children and is now a great champion of our cause.
Paul currently lives in Hout Bay with his wife Lorette, their daughter Danielle and son Joshua and has a successful international career, while consistently presenting sold-out exhibitions at respected Cape Town galleries. Please take a look at more of his work.
