The Children's Hospital Trust is an independent charity organisation and the fundraising arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.
This children's hospital charity is dedicated to supporting the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in serving the children of Africa. In consultation with the management team at the Hospital our work is focussed on fundraising for selected needs and long-term projects.
Our work includes the purchasing of life saving equipment, the upgrade and maintenance of vital buildings at the Hospital as well as the development of the professional staff who work at this children's hospital in Cape Town. As a non-profit charity organisation the Children's Hospital Trust relies on the generosity of our donors to help us realise our aims and objectives. We proudly guarantee that 100% of all money donated to the Trust benefits the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital directly.
The Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital is a cornerstone of paediatric health care in Southern Africa and is the only specialist hospital dedicated entirely to children in sub-Saharan Africa. As a public tertiary level hospital the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital is dedicated to delivering word-class paediatric treatment, care, research and specialist training. The Hospital is managed by the Provincial Government of the Western Cape (PGWC) at an approximate cost of R300 million per annum. Running a world-class institution is exceptionally expensive and the Children's Hospital Trust needs ongoing support to raise the critical complementary funding to ensure that the Hospital remains a centre of paediatric excellence, giving hope to sick children and their families.
With the broadest range of paediatric specialists under one roof in sub-Saharan Africa, the Hospital treats around 250 000 children each year with some of the most complex, life-threatening or life-limiting conditions. The majority of the Hospital's tiny patients come from around South Africa, but many are also from countries beyond its borders. Most patients are from marginalised communities and more than one third of the patients are under a year old. They are often the sickest of sick children who need highly complex interventions to recover.
Help these children receive the highest quality of medical care available by becoming a donor.
