On 30 October 2009 the 24hr Charity Canoe Challenge took place at Century City. Teams of 4 entered to either run or paddle for 24 hours on and around the Waterway around Canal Walk and Century City.
2009 was the second year for this annual challenge, organised by Galeforce Events. The relay started at 18h00 on Friday, 30 October from The Clubhouse, Century City and ended at 18h00 on Saturday, 31 October. Various sports celebrities participated including Nikki Mocke, Cornè Krige, Alan Dawson and Vladimir Kotov.
Proceeds from the entry fees were donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust and will go towards the upgrade of the Surgical Ward at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
