The Col’Cacchio Pizzeria Celebrity Chef Series launched at the beginning of April 2009 with the aim of raising funds for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital’s new Operating Theatre Complex which will open in September 2009. With the help of 6 top chefs from across the country, each rolling their own masterpiece for the pizza oven, 3 months down the line and Col’Cacchio pizzeria has already raised over R 80,000.00.
Under the guidance of pizza doyenne, Col’Cacchio Pizzeria’s Kinga Baranowska, chefs Reuben Riffel, Mike Basset, Citrum Khumalo, Rudi Liebenberg, Margot Janse and Philippe Wagenfuhrer were challenged to create something different with ingredients ranging from prawns, wasabi pesto and peanut sauce to white anchovies. Each month a different pizza is available on promotion with R 5.00 from each one sold donated towards the Hospital to purchase specialised surgical equipment.
In the final 3 months of the campaign, diners can look forward to Rudi Liebenberg, Margot Janse and Reuben Riffel’s pizzas - 3 creations from Cape Town chefs who have made their mark in the culinary world. Visit any of the 17 Col’Cacchio pizzerias to experience the Celebrity Chef Pizza of the month and with Col’Cacchio Pizzeria support the Children’s Hospital Trust, the Fundraising Arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
