6-year-old Nadine could have bled to death one Sunday evening while she and her father fed their two Pitbull terriers together. She was attacked by one of her dogs, tearing deeply into the side of her face, ripping her eye, cheek, ear and neck.
“They told me that she could have died if we did not get her to the Hospital in time as her wounds were deep and close to vital veins. She also could have lost an eye but thank goodness the highly-trained staff managed to save it and more importantly, my daughter’s life.
Every minute of this was painful and scary for me as a mother so I can’t imagine how my daughter must have felt! I was at least comforted by the staff of the Hospital who treated my daughter with such care and efficiency. Even a social worker from the Social Work Programme at the Hospital is assisting us and especially Nadine with trauma counselling to help her heal, feel strong and confident again.” Natasha, Nadine’s mom.
