It takes a village to PROTECT a child
A child’s resilience shines brightest when embraced by a village of guardians
In the midst of hopelessness, a child’s resilience shines brightest when embraced by a village of guardians.
It was during loadshedding, that a haunting incident unfolded. A very young and innocent child met abuse and a violent presence in the passage to a shared toilet.
In a village that is supposed to be a place of peace and safety, a young girl became a victim of sexual violence. Her innocence and dignity were shattered. In a time that would have been heavily confusing and deeply traumatic, rescue arrived swiftly. A guardian placed the fragile child in the sanctuary of the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. There, amidst fear, a doctor, a nurse, an auntie—crafted a haven of safety, healing wounds both seen and unseen.
Ultimately, it was through the hospital’s guidance that illuminated a path to comfort. A simple teddy became a beacon of solace, a constant reminder of the love and care received.
This narrative isn’t just a story—it’s a call for action. In the ongoing 16 Days of Activism, the Children’s Hospital Trust seeks to fortify support for children haunted by violence. Your donation drives this crusade, amplifying the shield of protection, and kindling hope for brighter, safer tomorrows.
