It takes a village to SEE a child

In the world of every child, safety should be an unwavering promise, not a fleeting hope. A story that echoes every innocent voice, pleading for a haven free from fear, is one that we can’t ignore.

Meet Nina, just six, whose laughter was silenced by cruelty. Here is a girl who knew that her mom and dad loved her dearly. Even though it is true that most children like her, within the context of our nation, do not live with both their parents, she did see her father and loved him. “It’s just Mommy and me at home most of the time.”

It would all change one day. Alone with a family relative, their sanctuary turned to a place of terror.  The relative she loved, acted on a moment of anger,  pinning her hands on a hot stove, inflicting burns and bruises.

But there’s a glimmer of hope amidst this darkness. Nina found refuge at The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. Doctors tended to her wounds, while compassionate social workers mended her spirit. The embrace of safety brought courage to share her pain, leading to justice for this young soul and protection for others like her that would inevitably follow. A collective effort in the protection of children like Nina is an extension of a much larger need for our children.

With that being said, we cannot stop now.

Through your generous donations, you have enabled a much larger impact on the lives of young children which allows the Children’s Hospital Trust to continue to be an institution that supports sustainable healthcare. This isn’t just a story—it’s a call for action. In these 16 Days of Activism against violence against Children, we call you to join hands to fortify the shields of protection. Your support can empower the Child Protection Services Unit at the Hospital, ensuring no child suffers in silence, and just like Nina, children will find love again.
