On the contrary – every rand you give, makes a real and meaningful difference to every little child at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
At the Children’s Hospital Trust, we believe in the little ones! We believe they matter. We believe the little ones can change the world.
Let’s look at your little one rand in your pocket, for example. People might look at that little coin and think that they’re insignificant, or that they can’t do much. But at the Children’s Hospital Trust, we know how big those little ones can become. Because while they might not amount to much on their own, together they can make a massive difference.
Imagine the difference if one million people gave just one little rand – we can make an incredible difference.
When you donate to the Trust, 100% of your donation will go towards the much-needed upgrade and expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Centre. The operational costs of the Trust are funded from an endowment, so your generous contributions are never used to cover administration costs.
The Emergency Centre becomes very busy at this time of year and they need your help. It is the first point of entry to the hospital where children face life or death while being cared for by medics, also known as our unsung heroes.
Remember Oliver Crocker-Hall an 11-year-old boy who faced potential brain damage due to a motor vehicle accident? Thanks to your generous donations and the swift, specialised treatment he received at the centre, Ollie now lives a joyful, carefree life with deep gratitude for a second chance at life.
Says Suna, his mom: “As a mother, you never want to need your child to go to Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. Those are the words no parent ever wants to hear, because they signify that something is seriously wrong. However, imagine the dire consequences if this state of the art, world renowned hospital was not on our doorstep? My son might not be alive today. Thousands of children would suffer, and likely not survive, if this hospital, and especially the Emergency Centre, was not available to any child that needs its immediate services and expertise. Receiving treatment at Red Cross is only an option to everyone because kind and generous people donate to the Children’s Hospital Trust.”
Professor Heloise Buys, Head of Ambulatory Services and the Emergency Centre, says: “For each and every little one, their family and the medical professionals who care deeply for them, your little one rand matters. The centre gives children a second chance and your donation gives you a chance to leave your mark on life.”
Donate at www.childrenshospitaltrust.org.za today and help turn one little rand from one million people into one huge difference this Festive Season!
